FEMA grants $10.7 million to the Texas Health and Human Services Commission

AUSTIN, Texas — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded nearly $10.7 million to the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) following Hurricane Harvey.  The commission opened two shelters for displaced survivors in Port Arthur and Orange. The shelters operated from mid-September to mid-October after Harvey’s August 2017 landfall.   The cost of the shelter operations at the Port Arthur Civic Center and the Orange Boat Ramp was more than $11.8 million. AUSTIN, Texas – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded more than $2.7 million to Victoria County for debris removal following Hurricane Harvey.  An estimated 158,501 cubic yards of construction, demolition and vegetative debris was collected and removed after the storm.  The cost of debris removal exceeded $3 million. FEMA’s grant of more than $2.7 million requires $308,602, or a 10 percent nonfederal contribution, from the applicant.  The grant is provided by FEMA’s Public Assistance program, which reimburses communities, schools and other eligible applicants for actions taken in the immediate...

FEMA grants more than $11.5 million to Orange County for debris removal

AUSTIN, Texas – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded more than $11.5 million to Orange County for debris removal following Hurricane Harvey.  The county removed extensive debris from the public roads and rights-of-way as well as public and private property. Construction and demolition, vegetation, computer component, appliance, and household hazardous waste debris were removed, hauled and disposed of throughout the county. The debris removal cost is more than $12.8 million.
