FEMA grants $10.7 million to the Texas Health and Human Services Commission

AUSTIN, Texas — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded nearly $10.7 million to the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) following Hurricane Harvey.  The commission opened two shelters for displaced survivors in Port Arthur and Orange. The shelters operated from mid-September to mid-October after Harvey’s August 2017 landfall.   The cost of the shelter operations at the Port Arthur Civic Center and the Orange Boat Ramp was more than $11.8 million.
