Disaster Recovery Center Opens in Beaumont to Help Imelda Survivors

AUSTIN, Texas – A Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) will be opening Thursday, Oct. 24, in Jefferson County to help disaster survivors affected by Tropical Storm Imelda.  Recovery specialists from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), and additional agencies will be at the center to answer questions about disaster assistance and low-interest disaster loans. They can also help survivors apply for federal disaster assistance. What to Expect During a FEMA Housing Inspection

AUSTIN, Texas – After applying for federal disaster assistance for damages incurred during Tropical Storm Imelda, qualified residents in Chambers, Harris, Jefferson, Liberty, Montgomery and Orange counties will receive a call from a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) housing inspector as the next step in the recovery process. The inspector will schedule an appointment seven to 10 days after registration.
