WASHINGTON -- FEMA announced that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the state of Louisiana to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by severe storms, tornadoes and flooding from May 17-21, 2021. The President's action makes federal funding available to affected individuals in Ascension, Calcasieu, East Baton Rouge, Iberville and Lafayette parishes. BATON ROUGE, La. – FEMA’s Public Assistance (PA) grant program is an essential source of funding for communities recovering from a federally declared disaster or emergency. The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (GOHSEP) works with FEMA during all phases of the PA program and conducts final reviews of FEMA-approved projects. Public Assistance grants go to governments and nonprofits after a disaster.
