AUSTIN, TX – Even if you registered for federal assistance because you suffered damage from Hurricane Harvey, you can register for assistance if affected by Tropical Storm Imelda. Federal aid does not stop after applying for, and/or receiving assistance from a single disaster. Understanding FEMA Determination Letters and How to Appeal

AUSTIN, TX – Survivors who registered with FEMA for disaster assistance because they were affected by Tropical Storm Imelda will receive a determination letter explaining the eligibility decision and the reason for that decision. If approved, it will state the dollar amount of the grant and how the funds should be used and when ineligible, the letter explains why and how the applicant can appeal that decision.  Survivors receiving an “ineligible” letter are not necessarily disqualified for assistance. Septic systems and wells are generally not covered by flood insurance.
