South of the Southern Coast of Mexico: An area of low pressure located south of the southern coast of Mexico is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Environmental conditions appear conducive for development, and a tropical depression is likely to form during the next few days while the system moves westward to west-northwestward off the coast of southern and southwestern Mexico. * Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...50 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...high...80 percent. 2. Western East Pacific: The remnants of Newton are located nearly 1,000 miles southwest of the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula. Bursts of shower and thunderstorm activity associated with the low has shown signs of organization today. Some additional slight development of the system is possible for the next day or two and it could briefly become a tropical depression again while it moves generally westward over the western portion of the eastern North Pacific.
