FEMA’s Public Assistance Program Obligates $10 Million to Area Schools

BATON ROUGE, La. — Four schools in East Baton Rouge and Ascension parishes have an additional $10 million to recover and rebuild following the August floods.FEMA’s Public Assistance (PA) program awarded more than $3.3 million to the East Baton Rouge School Board for remediation at Park Forest Middle School and Park Forest Elementary School. To assist with recovery efforts, the Ascension Parish School Board will receive $3.5 million for St. Amant High School. Louisiana Flood Survivors Rebuild with $2.4 Billion in NFIP Payments

BATON ROUGE, La. — Louisiana policyholders have received nearly $2.4 billion in insurance payments from the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) to help with repairs and to rebuild homes following the August flood. The average claim for this disaster was $87,426.Policyholders received advanced flood insurance payments of approximately $361 million. The average NFIP advance payment was $18,733 and dispersed in as few as five days to help with recovery and rebuilding efforts.The NFIP has received more than 29,500 claims for this disaster, of which 98 percent are closed. Disaster Recovery Funding Tops $3 Billion

BATON ROUGE, La. — Federal help for Louisiana flood survivors now tops $3 billion eight months after the Aug. 14 disaster declaration. This disaster recovery assistance has been disbursed or obligated by FEMA, so far, to eligible Louisianans and public entities through the Individuals and Household Program (IHP) and the Public Assistance Program (PA). Funding was also issued through U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) loans.More than 73,000 Louisiana families received FEMA help through the IHP.
